Matthew 11
"Are You Tired?"

Are you tired? If you're paying attention to what is going on in this world, I'm guessing you are worn out. Jesus walked this earth during some really bad times. The Jews were oppressed and the Romans were running the show. Jesus' people were heavily taxed, had no say in public affairs outside of the synagogue, and the world was full of corruption. To top it all off, the religious leaders had put extremely high demands on Jews who wanted to be considered righteous. The people were exhausted. So Jesus comes along with these words:

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

So I ask again, "Are you tired?" The words of Jesus still call out to us today. If you want some rest from this evil and corrupt world, there is only one answer.
