"Living for Christ"
With everything happening in our world right now, it's easy to get discouraged. The cultural rot and moral decay can lead a person to say, "Lord come quickly!" But, even in challenging times, we are supposed to live for Jesus. Paul wrote the letter we call Philippians in the middle of circumstances that make 2020 look like a picnic. He was in prison, not even sure if he would live through it! As he contemplated what would come next, he was torn. Dying meant he could go be with Jesus in heaven. That was his ultimate destination, but he knew his work here was not finished. Dying was preferred, but for the time being, he was called to live -- for Christ and his purposes.
As much as we would like to see Jesus come end all this mess here today, we know that as long as we are here, we are also called to live for him. We have work to do for him. You may feel insignificant compared to Paul, but you are called according to God's purpose. So, let's live for Jesus!
