Jesus tells a disturbing parable to illustrate how we respond to him and to God who sent him. In this parable, a king prepares a huge wedding banquet for his son. The calves and oxen have been slaughtered and cooked, the dinner is ready; all the stops have been pulled out to make this great feast. But the invited guests don't show up. So, the king sends his slaves to remind them. They refuse to come! They make light of the party and some even kill the slaves! The king is furious, as you can imagine. So, what happens? How does this apply to us?
