Up to this point, Jonah has rebelled and run from God. After his three days praying to God "from the realm of the dead," Jonah has now repented, is listening, and is working with God. He obeys the directive from God to go to Ninevah and preach the message. The message is short, blunt, and effective! We often think we have to be eloquent in telling people about Jesus. But the truth is, the power is in the message, not the messenger. Oh, we can get in the way, but when we listen to God and go along with His leading, HE will bring the results.
