Luke’s account of the birth of Jesus includes the announcement of Jesus’ arrival to shepherds working in the fields at night. It’s remarkable because the Creator of the universe, the King, was having his arrival announced to peasants. Shepherds were the bottom rung of society’s ladder. Normally a king’s arrival would be announced to royalty. But the arrival of Jesus wasn’t announced to royalty, or to religious leaders, it was announced to shepherds. Why? Because Jesus came for ALL.
