Peter has already talked about suffering in different roles and circumstances. But now, in a general sense, he addresses suffering just for being a follower of Jesus. He tells us not to be surprised when it happens. Expect it. And when it happens, rejoice! Praise God! Why? Because you are participating in the sufferings of Christ. If we look at it that way, it should change our mindset.
