Paul opened his letter to the Christians in Rome with the "Good News." He quickly shifts gear to talk about the very bad news of God's coming judgement and wrath. Paul describes the Roman culture very clearly and it sounds just like our culture today. It is ugly. So ugly that God gets to the point of just "giving them over" to their depravity. He essentially says, "Go ahead! Try it your way." And of course that way leads to death. Reading this section of Paul's letter, it's easy for us to say, "Go get 'em Paul!" But, he is talking to us all. He makes that quite clear. So, what do we do with this warning?
