In his letter, John has already given us a couple of “Jesus tests.” First, he says if someone denies Jesus is Messiah, they are not true believers. Second, if someone does not do what Jesus said and continues to walk in darkness, they are not a true believer. And, in this text, John says if we don’t love fellow believers, we do not belong to God. “Love one another.” How hard can that be? Pretty difficult sometimes.
