Genesis 32 has a strange account of Jacob wrestling with "a man" through the night. At daybreak, and with the fight seemingly at a stalemate, the man blesses Jacob and changes his name to Israel which means, "he struggles with God." I don't know about you, but wrestling with God was not something I was taught as a young Christian. Wrestling with God seems like the opposite of submitting to God. But, is it? If Jacob was the only example of someone wrestling with God, then maybe that would be the case. But, over and over in scripture, there are examples of godly men and women who wrestled with God over something.
